Polar Phlox
"Bindi"
Bindi is a 2001 Thoroughbred mare that escaped the slaughter truck by a few days after retiring from 6 years of racing. She joined the family Nov 18, 2009 and retrained in barrels and poles. After years of on and off competing and having some foals she retired in 2021. She has been the first ride for all of the children and now enjoys retirement and being spoiled by a little girl.
Pocos Shady Cat
"Rumor"
Rumor is Bindi's only filly and only surviving foal. She was born May 15, 2015. She is an Appendix and has a huge attitude. She spends most days trying to be the boss of the herd even though her mother will always be the boss. Hopefully this will be the year she can get to some barrel races and pick up where her mom left off.
I've Got It Made
"Ivy"
Ivy is a 2012 Thoroughbred mare that joined the herd in Oct 2016 after her short racing career. She has been living up to the Thoroughbred stereotype and is not the easiest ride but has proved to be a permanent fixture in the herd with her willingness to work (as long as it is fast paced work) and gentle attitude with the kids.
Dallas
Dallas is our most recent addition having retired in March April 2024. She was owned by Dan's aunt and uncle during her racing career and after taking her to some of her races in Charles Town, WV and getting to go to the winner's circle with her twice we knew we wanted to bring her home when she was done running. We have hopes of her starting a second career in the barrel pen while also maintaining a calm personality for the kids to ride.
